Discussion Forum
Transiting CNSs from Change Agents to Implementation Scientists

Join the Center for Implementation Science for a discussion of implementation science and practice.   Whether you graduated recently or in the distant past, CNSs learned change theory and have served as change agents achieving nursing care and system level improvements.  Principles from our longstanding change theories are reconfigured in the rigorous methods of implementation science, the scientific study of making change.  The resulting body of research evidence provides a rich source of implementation practices, the art of selecting scientifically sound practices for achieving change in a designated environmental context.

Objectives:
1. Examine the long-standing function of CNSs as change agents.
2. Define implementation science and implementation practice.
3. Discuss the application of implementation science for creating and sustaining change.

The discussion will include a brief presentation, followed by open discussion.  Bring your questions, share your expertise.   Open to all NACNS members – no cost!

Presenter:
Sharon Tucker PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC, NC-BC, FNAP, FAAN
Professor and Chair, Department of Nursing Practice
University of Central Florida
Associate Editor, Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing
